March 9, 2010 – Ottawa, ON – This study was completed by PKF Consulting Inc. on behalf of the Hotel Association of Canada. The 2008 results are based on Operating Revenue from PKF’s Trends in the hotel industry and PKF’s hotel industry supply database. Value-added, direct & indirect government Revenues, salaries & Wages and Employment have been based on the ratio’s reflected in HAC’s Economic Impact Model completed by the Conference Board of Canada in 2001. more

CITQ Conducts Quebec GK Inspections

January 13, 2009 – Longueuil – The Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) and the Corporation de l'industrie touristique du Québec (CITQ) today announced that they have signed an agreement regarding the Green Key Eco-Rating Program, aimed at promoting environmentally friendly practices in the tourist accommodation industry. Under this agreement the HAC gives the CITQ the mandate to visit and certify all establishments in Quebec participating in the Green Key program. more

September 15, 2008 – Ottawa – The Retail Council of Canada (RCC) and a coalition of like-minded associations including the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) launched “www.StopStickingItToUs.ca”, a national campaign against Big Credit Card companies and the banks that issue their cards that have been imposing skyrocketing hidden credit card fees on all Canadians. The campaign targets the more than $4.5 billion dollars worth of hidden credit card fees paid by Canadians each year. more Français

Federal Government Announces Release of 2009 Accommodation Request for Standing Offer

July 24, 2008 – Ottawa – Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) has released the 2009 Accommodation Request for Standing Offer (RFSO) for the Government of Canada employees on July 21, 2008. Properties must submit their offers no later than September 17, 2008 at 2:00 pm in order to have their offer considered for the 2009 Accommodation Directory. There is only one bidding period for the 2009 Directory and fax submission are no longer accepted, therefore please ensure you complete and submit your offer prior to the bid closing date. more

Military Family Appreciation Program Embraced by Canadian Hotels

July 2, 2008 – Ottawa – The HAC Military Family Appreciation Program has been launched by the Hotel Association of Canada. In conjunction with the Department of National Defence, the program is designed to support Canada’s Regular and Reserve Forces members and their families by allowing hotels to show their support by offering a reduced room rate to members of the military and their immediate families. more

HAC Calls for End to Crippling Airport Tax

February 20, 2007 - Toronto -- The Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) today released new market research data demonstrating that in 2007 11% more Canadians intend to travel in Canada than 2006, continuing a steady increase over the past few years (57% of Canadians said they would travel in Canada in 2005, 67% in 2006 and 78% in 2007.) more
