Awards of Excellence - 2017 Winners

The Hotel Association of Canada’s Awards of Excellence Program was developed for the purpose of recognizing members who demonstrate significant accomplishments, exemplary leadership and tireless commitment to Canada’s lodging industry.

The 2017 winners received two complimentary conference tickets and accommodations, as well as industry-wide exposure at a special red-carpet reception at the HAC Conference on February 7, 2018.

Awarded to the Toronto Marriott Bloor hotel for their robust human resources program, which focuses on community engagement and a strong career development strategy. The hotel has developed a human resources culture that attracts, develops and retains highly qualified employees.

Awarded to the Delta Hotels by Marriott Dartmouth. Faced with ever-changing market demands, hotel teams have turned to repositioning as a way to improve operational and financial performance. Awarded to Delta Hotels by Marriott Dartmouth, for their hotel transformation that capitalizes on the dynamics of Canada’s tourism market.

Awarded to the Prince George Hotel, Halifax for the successful implementation of a multi-departmental strategy and delivering a unique response to the high tourism demand in their region, ultimately driving exceptional revenue results.

Awarded to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. This Award recognizes Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge for their longstanding dedication to environmental management practices. The hotel has developed a strategy for sustainability which improves their everyday lodging operations and maintaining quality service and guest expectations.

Awarded to Shalin Parikh, Chelsea Hotel. The Aspiring Hotelier award is presented to Shalin Parikh, of the Chelsea Hotel, Toronto. Mr. Parikh has made an outstanding contribution to employee health, wellness and engagement, under his leadership.

Awarded to the Ritz Carlton, Toronto. The Ritz Carlton, Toronto has demonstrated a strong response to Canada’s refugee strategy, and developed mechanisms for fundraising and hosting refugees while implementing programs which job placement programs to assist in finding fulltime employment.
